Coyote Removal

Despite common beliefs, coyotes thrive in urban areas. They are regularly seen in neighborhoods and city streets. Coyotes can pose a threat to some domestic animals such as cats, small dogs, chickens, and livestock. Sometimes they become too comfortable in their urban environment and show little to no fear of humans. This may be a time for action.

We use snares, humane foothold traps, and even thermal hunting equipment as effective methods for controlling coyotes. Cage trapping is an extremely ineffective method for coyote removal. It can be done, but it is more luck than anything.

Coyotes are common throughout most of the United States. Coyotes look like small german shepherds/wolves and come in several color phases. Coyotes can be gray, reddish, black, and even albino.  Coyotes are typically nocturnal, meaning they do most of their sleeping during the day and are active at night.   Coyotes are often times seen during the day.  This is often a viewed as a sign that the coyote is sick.  That is not always the case, but it is a best practice to avoid a coyote whether day or nighttime. The coyote wants to avoid you as well.  Coyotes have become accustomed to seeing humans on a regular basis, so they do not always run when approached.

Coyote breeding season is typically in January-February.  They birth their young, 3-5 pups, in the spring.  They will fend for themselves by the time their first winter comes.

“Can I give more than 5 stars???? I highly highly recommend Halkers Wildlife Control! Joey is the best. I SAW a raccoon on my attic and was leaving town the next day. I was so thankful he could come out THAT NIGHT! He was so thorough in both inspecting my roof and attic. He found the entry point, set the traps and then carefully every inch of my attic. He must have been up there for 30 minutes,. And AMAZINGLY, he corralled the raccoon out to the trap outside my attic!! He is a miracle worker. That does NOT happen every time. He checked her out and determined she was probably pregnant and did not have babies up there too. He really knows his stuff. And did I mention he is just a very nice young man? He took her to a wildlife area and I was able to sleep that night,. I will only use him for any future needs and you should too.!”
